Description:

The Brownie 127 second model has a moulded plastic body with vertical ribbing, a smooth top, and an optical direct vision finder. Its lens faceplate is horizontally striped and in quotation marks, with the name “Brownie.”

Variations:

1959: An “albino” version with a white/cream body and a grey top was produced for field testing. About 5,000 cameras were built and sold in the UK and the Channel Islands. No more were made because of how dirty-looking the light body would become after handling.

Fun Facts:

Look for minor differences when figuring out what model you have, especially for cameras like the Brownie 127, which were manufactured using the same name. In this case, the camera’s name and the graphic on the faceplate quickly identify the black one as a Brownie 127, second model. The albino version can only be a Brownie 127, the second model from 1959.
