Are you ready to step into the 19th century and experience the captivating art of portrait photography? I offer a unique opportunity to have your very own Tintype or Ambrotype portrait taken, creating a timeless piece of art you’ll cherish forever.

Wet Collodion Portraits at Risca Studio (NP11)

An hour studio: 1 tintype or ambrotype (5 x 7 inches), plus a high-resolution scan of your plate

A £50 deposit is required to hold/schedule your time slot, and it will be applied to your final session fee.

  • 5×7 inches tintype – First plate £90 (Ambrotypes: £ 95) 
  • Additional plates: £ 55 (Ambrotype £ 65)

Important: Each image does not need to be of yourself only. For example, you can bring your partner and have a portrait of yourself, one of your partner, and one of both of you. That will count as 3 plates, and your session will cost £190 (around £66 per plate)

Creating a tintype is a little adventure! Our session will last about 1 hour, giving us time to chat, get comfortable, and dive into the magic of this historic art form. Bring your curiosity—I’m always happy to answer questions, and my goal is to make your experience as relaxed and enjoyable as possible.

If standing in front of a camera feels intimidating, don’t worry! I’ll guide you every step of the way, so you can simply enjoy the process. Watching your image appear—almost like alchemy—in the final stage is a moment of pure wonder.
 
Later, I’ll carefully varnish your plate and let it cure, ensuring it lasts for generations. I’ll send you a scan for sharing online, and your original tintype will be in your hands within a week or less.
Each tintype is a one-of-a-kind creation, made one plate at a time—typically 15–20 minutes per plate. In a 60-minute session, we can usually create 2 to 3 unique plates for you to choose from. The moment the flash shoots, your portrait is captured forever—no retouching, no digital tricks, just a true piece of living history.

Price start at £ 340 and includes 5 5×7 inches tintypes (£ 68 per tintype).

RESCHEDULING, REFUNDS and CANCELLATIONS:

A £ 50 deposit is required when booking your appointment. This deposit secures your session and will be applied to your total cost. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 48 hours in advance for a full refund.
 
Because tintype sessions require significant preparation and materials, refunds cannot be issued if you miss your appointment or cancel without at least 48 hours’ notice. I kindly ask for advance notice so we can reschedule without issue.
 
Please note: Rescheduling or cancelling within 48 hours is treated the same as a last-minute cancellation, as it prevents others from booking that slot. If you need to reschedule, a new deposit will be required. Thank you for understanding.
